چکیده

In this aper, we present a procedure to analyze the delay distribution of data traffic in CDMA systems supporting voice and delay-tolerant data services with a finite buffer. The queueing method using a buffer for a delay-tolerant traffic can be used to improve the system utilization or the availability of system resources. Under the first-come and first-serve (FCFS) service discipline, we present a numerical procedure for the calculation of delay distribution that is defined as the probability that a new data call get a service within the maximum tolerable delay requirement, based on a two-dimensional Markov model. It is shown that the buffer size is one of the important parameters to appropriately balance the availability of system resources for each traffic. Key–Words: CDMA, Delay distribution, Voice/data

Admission control scheme for soft handoff in DS-CDMA cellular systems supporting voice and stream-type data services

The soft handoff call requests of real-time services in third-generation (3G) direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and firstand second-generation cellular systems are more important than new call requests from the viewpoint of quality of service (QoS). Rejection of soft handoff requests causes forced termination of an ongoing real-time call, which is a severer problem than bl...

Performance of a Two-Level Call Admission Control Scheme for DS-CDMA Wireless Networks

We propose a two-level call admission control (CAC) scheme for direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) wireless networks supporting multimedia traffic and evaluate its performance. The first-level admission control assigns higher priority to real-time calls (also referred to as class 0 calls) in gaining access to the system resources. The second level admits nonreal-time calls (...

Hybrid channel assignment scheme for accommodating voice/data traffic in DS-CDMA cellular systems

A hybrid channel assignment (HCA) scheme in direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems for accommodating integrated voice/data traffic is proposed and the required power levels of voice and data traffic are derived. These levels can be used to maintain the minimum required link qualities of all calls. In the proposed scheme, delay-sensitive voice traffic is accommodated in ...

Performance analysis of voice/data cellular CDMA with SIR-based admission control

In this paper, we analyze the performance of a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR)-based admission control strategy on the uplink in cellular code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems with voice and data traffic. Most studies in the current literature to estimate CDMA system capacity with both voice and data traffic do not take into account admission control based on SIR constraints. Here, we...

OVSF Code Assignment Method Considering Traffic Characterisrics in W-CDMA Systems

In this paper, we propose a novel OVSF (Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor) code assignment method considering traffic characteristics in the W-CDMA systems. The previously proposed dynamic code assignment (DCA) scheme allows code reassignments to improve code utilization, but induces some service delay time to on-going calls. Generally, as the layer number of an OVSF code is lower, code reas...
